The PNEI of the UP-National Institutes of Health serve Filipinos primarily through research, developing hearing and balance diagnostics and interventions technology, practice guidelines, policies, programs and advocacies in the Philippines and the global community, supplemented by teaching, training and service. Guided by Professionalism, Nationalism, Ethics, Integrity and Innovation, we will provide opportunities for meritocratic growth of our highly qualified, committed and collaborative multi-specialty team while sustainably managing our resources in the pursuit of socially responsive research programs and technology development for hearing and balance health.

The PGH Ear Unit provides various audiologic services such as

1. Pediatric hearing screening and diagnosis (OAE, AABR, ABR, ASSR, VRA, Play Audiometry)
2. Adult hearing screening and diagnosis (pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, aided audiometry)
3. Middle ear assessment (tympanometry, stapedial reflex testing)
4. Hearing aid analysis (hearing aid fitting and testing, implantable device programming)
5. Vestibular assessment (VHIT, VEMP, VNG)
6. Speech and language assessment and intervention services

The PGH Ear Unit is also one of the DOH-recognized centers that can provide hearing aid services to pediatric patients under the Philhealth Z-benefit package.
As proponents of the National Cochlear Implant Program, we also provide cochlear implantation services to selected children.
We also provide newborn hearing screening certification courses in collaboration with the Newborn Hearing Screening Reference Center, to increase the country’s capacity to provide adequate newborn hearing screening and intervention services.
Our faculty and consultants are also involved in providing training to family physicians and general practitioners on the diagnosis and treatment of hearing and balance disorders.
